Regular fire alarm testing is a requirement for all businesses with a fire alarm system. To be legally compliant, your fire alarm system must have a weekly fire alarm test as well as be maintained and serviced by a competent person.
HOW IS A FIRE ALARM TEST CONDUCTED?
Before commencing our fire alarm testing service, we conduct a full audit of the property, identifying the systems and equipment on site, as well as interacting with tenants to get their details and pinpoint any potential problems. This allows us to test and report with complete building knowledge, ensuring the service runs as smoothly as possible. A manual call point is activated to test audibility and operating effectiveness of the system. This is usually done by inserting a dedicated test key. The test is then recorded in the site logbook.

PRICES
Emergency Lighting Testing starts from £95.00 +VAT. This is for up to 10 luminaires and includes the above.
Additional savings may apply when Emergency Lighting Testing is booked together with PAT Testing and/or EICR.
Note – Special rates apply for out of hours and weekend appointments.
The LEGALITIES
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) is the overarching legislation covering fire safety. To comply with the RRO, your premises, facilities, equipment and devices must be regularly maintained by a competent person – which, of course, includes your fire alarms. Expanding on this is the guidance set out in the relevant British Standard: BS 5839, which recommends fire alarm detection systems are inspected by a competent person at least twice a year.
